My Top Ten Best Beauty Buys of the Year
December 15, 2009I don’t buy a lot of makeup, but when I do, I make sure that I get only those that give me full value for my money. Here’s a list of some of the best products I’ve ever tried this year in terms of quality, consistency and overall performance.
The price (P1350) may sound daunting, but this blush is an invesment that is worth every cent you pay. NARS blushes are highly pigmented, they last all day and one pan can serve you for more than a year even with daily use. If you’re looking for a great go-to blush then NARS blushes should be on top of your list. Try Orgasm or Super Orgasm.
2. Shiseido Supplist Poreless Powder Foundation

This is my current foundation love. I’ll definitely buy the refill, regardless of the price (P1650). I think I’ve gushed about this product too much in all my online accounts (lol) so just read the original review.
Remember when I was looking for the best eyeliner ever? I found it. MAC Fluidlines are very creamy, they don’t budge or smudge, and a little goes a long way. All the makeup gurus swear by this eyeliner. It takes a little practice to get the application right but once you do it will only take a few seconds per line.
4. Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume II
This is one set that every makeup enthusiast should have. It has the 24/7 Glide On pencils and Primer Potion which are cult favorites in the makeup world. The eyeshadows are pigmented, silky, and long-lasting. What’s best about it is that you get all these products for only a fraction of the price if you buy them separately.

5. Burt’s Bees Garden Tomato Toner
This is one product I simply cannot live without. It keeps my skin clear, toned and smooth, erases my blemishes and dries my pimples. It might not work as well for others, but for me, this is Holy Grail. I think I’m already on my fourth bottle this year!

7. Dollface Cosmetics 32-color Lip Palette
For only P650, this is so sulit! I use it everyday. The pinks are just gorgeous but the reds are pretty awesome. I highly recommend this palette. I’ve bought a lot of palettes from Dollface before but this is the best I’ve tried so far! That’s saying a lot because the palettes I have already pretty great by themselves.
It may or may not be fake, but it doesn’t matter. These are really good brushes that will serve me for at LEAST a couple of years. They’re soft and distributes color well and I love them for it.
Here is one other item that I find indispensable. It’s always in my bag since I need it for touch-ups or just for looking at the mirror. The powder adds no coverage -which I prefer since I don’t want my powder ruining my foundation - and controls shine really well!
10. Pond’s Flawless White Instensive Whitening Serum
You know how these skincare products promise you things they can’t do? This is NOT one of them. My blemishes really disappeared when I used this serum. Of course, I can’t say the same for you since a product’s effectivity depends on so many factors, but this is a product worth trying out nonetheless. I got this at sale price so yay! I’m going to buy it again when I run out.
Whew! I hope this was helpful. You should really try making your own top ten list, to get a nice perspective on your spending patterns as well as the quality of the things you buy. If you find that most of the items you bought this year didn’t make it to your regular routine then maybe you should rethink how you purchase products. It will help you save time and money in the long run.
Anwyay, please share your top ten best buys list here! I would love to know what the things you love are.

I tried looking for Mac’s gel liner but it’s sold out both here and in Sephora. :[
Also, I am sooooo with you on Burt’s Bees. I don’t break out anymore as much as I used to. Very awesome stuff
Nina - ive said it many times but i really love my Dollface lip palette. i have a blast just mixing and matching the colors! they look even better with clear gloss on top.
Doms - a good dupe are the Dollface gel liners for only a fraction of the price. In the meantime, ask MAC counters when they’ll be restocking the Fluidline. I waited a couple of months to get mine. You can ask them to text you once stocks come, or get their number so you can follow up.
Posted by projectvanity at December 16, 2009, 12:20 amhi liz! where did you buy your NARS brush set and how much? which do you think is better the dollface brush set that you have or this one?
Posted by lia at December 16, 2009, 11:27 amare the urban decay 24/7 pens comparable to mufe aqua eyes? do they really last? i’ve been yearning to get someone to buy me the super stash for the longest time!
Posted by sunmom at December 16, 2009, 11:27 amhi lia! i bought my NARS brush set secondhand. The forum I frequent has this selling area where members can dispose of their stuff. I chanced upon these and got them.
is the NARS set better than dollface? it’s hard to compare because my dollface set has different brushes from my NARS. in fact i’m still using around 5 or more brushes from dollface regularly even though i have another brush set.
Bianca - I’ve only swatched the MUFE aqua eyes but haven’t really tried them so I can’t tell you if they’re similar to UD. MUFE is definitely as pigmented as UD though. As for lasting power, UD is very very good. It smudges on me though, but it never fades or moves around.

I totally agree with MAC Fluidline and Blot Powder. Sadly, my blot powder broke, so I place it in a sifter jar
i love that set talaga! i have yet to go to NARS since im super busy but the more i use them the more it doesn’t matter. my favorite is the ita brush, eyeshadow brushes and the pointed eyeliner brush. i use them every single day!
my blot powder broke too, but i fixed it by mixing it with alcohol and pressing it back in the pan. it sticked naman, haha.
