The Importance of Eyebrows

April 28, 2008

One of the best things that you can do to your face is to shape your eyebrows. Why? People who are just starting to get into makeup might find it a bit difficult to believe, but eyebrows can "carry" your whole face. Imagine: you wouldn’t go out of the house wearing a loose pair of jeans without a belt. In the same way, plucked and shaped eyebrows bring your whole face together. Groomed eyebrows frame your face; they can lift it up, make it less narrow, or less square.

What are your options? You can do it yourself of course, but before attempting it, have your eyebrows done professionally first. I can give you a tutorial on it (researched from the Internet, hehe) but it’s difficult to risk your eyebrows since they take at least a month to grow back completely! The best way to go about it is to visit your favorite hair salon (chances are, they do eyebrows too) and have your eyebrows plucked, waxed, shaved, or threaded. It depends on which procedure you’re most comfortable about, but most women say that threading is the least painful and takes out even the small hairs from the roots.

After having your eyebrows fixed, make sure to pluck all growing hair. Just maintain the shape that your eyebrow stylist gave you and you’ll be fine. Make them more striking with eyebrow gel, eyebrow pencil (most common) or powder. Personally, I like using eyebrow powder better than eyebrow pencil since the finish looks less sharp and more natural, unlike penciled-in brows which can look harsh.

So if you still have unruly brows or haven’t done your eyebrow duty for some time, here’s a reminder! ;)

Hey I love the look of your blog.

I totally agree with you on this. As a teenager my mum kept trying to convince me to do something more than plucking the middle to tame mine, and I never realy thought it would matter. Then I went and had them waxed, and I’ve never looked back.
As they get unruly again, I totally notice it. I must admit that I have mine waxed every 5 weeks, I’m to much of a wuss to do the arch section, my eyes water and I can’t keep going.
My friend does them for me, she’s a beauty therapist and she tells me they have great natural shape.
