How To Make Your Own Mixing Medium
April 13, 2008What it is: it’s a solution that makes your eyeshadow more vibrant and longer-lasting. It allows for a smoother application of eyeshadow—there will be no more of that powdery finish and loose glitters will adhere to your lid instead of falling off. I realized quite recently that a mixing medium is indispensable if you’re using mineral pigment since this type of eyeshadow doesn’t adhere as well as traditional ones. It usally comes in loose, powdered form so you’ll really need to "seal it in" with a little mixing medium.
What it’s made of: Glycerine and water.
What’s glycerin and where can it be bought? It’s a colorless, thick liquid which can usually be found in beauty products, usually in soap and moisturizers. You can buy it off at Mercury Drugstore (it’s not in Watson’s, I think) for less than P50 if I’m not mistaken.
How to make it:
1.) For every one part of glycerin, add three parts of water. For example, if you use 1ml of glycerin, mix 3ml of water.
(lol wrong spelling. Too lazy to change!)
2.) Put the stuff in an atomizer or in a bottle, whichever you prefer. Shake!
How to use it: spray or put a drop or two on your brush before loading it with eyeshadow. Don’t drench the brush, just make it damp. Apply on your lid.

hm, you might swipe a bit of the solution on one eye and see what happens. just a bit, so if ever you get allergies, it won’t mess up your whole eye. however if you eyes are really sensitive, this is something you shouldn’t try. ^_^
as for me though, it works well. no allergies or anything when i use it.
Posted by projectvanity at April 14, 2008, 10:30 pmhehe thanks for the tip, I am sooo afraid to swipe anything NEW on my eye. I had this SUPER HUGE eye allergies last year and it lasted like 3months! IMagine, super BLOATED eyes, can’t do anything but wear shades
ohhhh. where’d you get the allergy?
Posted by projectvanity at April 16, 2008, 5:26 amHmm, good to know because I just got my first samples of mineral eyeshadows and I haven’t tried it yet!
